St. Bernard Parish Hospital’s Emergency Department saves lives. We are minutes away from the homes and businesses of our citizens. When a medical emergency arises you can easily access our facility and the best emergency care in the region. We are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We try to make our wait times as short as possible and most days we are within the national average.
The staff is led by Dr. Mace Scott. Dr. Scott is board certified in Emergency Medicine and has over 13 years of experience in managing Emergency Departments. Physicians who serve patients in our ER are all certified in Emergency Medicine and our nursing staff have certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and CPI Crisis Intervention.
Our ER cares for 25,000 patients a year with great care and efficiency. One of our new services is our Telestroke program with Tulane Medical Center. When a patient presents symptoms of a stroke, they can receive a diagnostic evaluation from a neurologist associated with Tulane and treatment can begin quickly. Our professionals are aware of the critical time frame to achieve the best results for stroke patients and our Telestroke program helps to adhere to those guidelines.
Imaging and procedural suites are close to the ER which also saves time and allows physicians to use the comprehensive diagnostic and treatment technology that is important to today’s medical care.
Our ER is just minutes away from most residences and businesses in St. Bernard Parish. In addition to its critical functions for individuals, our ER is designed to serve the industry that is vital to our area. Special features in the ER allow us to take care of patients from industrial accidents.
